For my Virtual Lockdown project, I collaborated with models Ioi, Moss, Elena, and Lauren to create a series of virtual photoshoots during the Covid-19 lockdown. The inspiration for this project came from Alessio Albi's virtual Facetime shoots, and I was curious to see what I could create in a photo shoot without being in the same space as the models.
To ensure that each shoot was tailored to the models' preferences and goals, I created a questionnaire for them to fill out before the shoot. This helped me to understand their vision and direction for each shoot. One of the biggest challenges was working with the lower quality smartphone and laptop cameras, but I embraced the lo-fi aesthetic and incorporated pixelated painterly-ness and retrowave vibes into the final products.
Moving forward, I see this project as a means of exploring the boundaries between the digital and physical. Even after the Covid-19 lockdown, I envision continuing this project to continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in a virtual photoshoot.
